The most popular and sought after IT and Computing Careers for 2010 fall in the following categories:

 

Computer software support – desktop, network and server day to day support within an IT department would require training in the following areas:

 

  • MCDST Training - Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician training provides you with the skills to successfully support end users and to successfully troubleshoot desktop environments running on the Microsoft Windows operating system.
  • Hardware training or CompTIA A+ Training - This training provides you with the ability to perform tasks such as installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and basic networking.
  • Desktop Application training such as MCAS Training - Microsoft Certified Application Specialist training for Access 2007, Excel 2007, Outlook 2007, PowerPoint 2007 and Word 2007.

 

Network and Computer systems administration – Certification in Networks whether and administration of servers using the following training courses:

 

  • Cisco Training - Cisco Training Courses are most appropriate for network support technicians and administrators who want to demonstrate their level of expertise and gain a recognised qualification in the IT networking arena.
  • Systems Administrators will require Operating System Training specific to their environment and in particular windows server training seems to be the most popular at the current time.

I've posted another comment in your Top Training for 2010 article about our choosing to build our school (http://www.learncomputer.com) around open-source training. I think Microsoft training is definitely popular, but for a new school (like ours), it's not trivial to get off the ground (ie software licensing, agreements etc.), where as open-source is still quite popular and simple to build program around.
