Learn to Speak English

Here we are looking at the various learning options available to learn English

Learn to Speak English

More and more people of all ages are learning to speak English. In other countries around the world children as young as 5 or 6 years old are learning to speak English as part of the daily routine at school. Older people want to study English as a secondary language and some student just want to improve their spoken and written English. This means the demand for English language courses is on the increase and the learning options available are also quite diverse:

If you would like to learn English, then the obvious learning option is to attend a classroom or instructor-led training course. You can then study via day-time or evening classes. If you can study in the UK then this is great because you can then practice what you have learnt whilst you are living here. There are many language colleges that offer the ability to study English and live here at the same time.

If your time is limited and you don’t have a large budget then you may want to look at other learning solutions such as books, audio cassettes, computer based training and web based training to help you with learning English.

  • English books – you can purchase a wide variety of books either in hard back or electronic format to be an additional resource for your English course
  • Audio Cassettes – these can be used in the car or in a tape player or walkman and will help you hear the way words and phrases are pronounced in English
  • Computer Based Training (CBT) using an English CD or DVD – these are great for those who wish to study in their own time and at their own pace (and are also much cheaper than classroom courses). The CBT’s that are available today have full audio and visual training thereby providing a fully interactive learning experience.
  • Web Based Training (WBT) to learn English online – This is by far the cheapest method for learning English as you have no printed media. Most of the online courses also have full audio and visual training but they do have a time limit as your course is normally purchased for months or a year at a time. After the expiry date you no longer have access to the course unless you decide to renew it.

Whichever option you choose, make sure you set aside a budget and some time accordingly. There is no point in purchasing a course and then not using it!

So whether you wish to learn about the English Alphabet, Numbers or more advanced topics, I’m sure you will find the right English Course for you.

People who know how to converse and write in English have an edge, especially career-wise. And because more and more people acknowledge this, they try to expose their kids to the English language as early as possible. It is great to have so many available learning resources these days.

Practice makes perfect - whatever course you are taking you must put into practice what you have learnt. Practice your english at every opportunity.
